Sports massage therapy for the equine athlete. This is a wonderful noninvasive therapy that should be a part of every equine athlete's health regimen.
60% of the horse body weight is made up of muscle. So there are many conditions of pain and inflammation that occur among our equine athletes, due to stress from training and showing. Most often these conditions require veterinary care, which relieves the acute injury. But sports massage in conjunction with veterinary therapy can provide a more lasting resolution of clinical symptoms.
Sports massage therapy is also a wonderful preventative measure for the equine athlete. We ask so much of our horses it is a great pleasure for me to be able to provide relief for their tired muscles, ligaments and tendons, therefore helping to prevent anymore injury or damage. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have more flexion, greater stride and a happier horse and rider team as a result?
